Is what you should expect from this short but hilly run, mountain bike, run in Greenwood Park. The original date for the race had been rained out, but it was a cool dry November day. There were 56 registrations, however most were teams. I was not in that great if shape, having been on my mountain bike a few times this fall, but I thought what the heck. The initial run was about 2 miles up behind the old science center and on the trail they call the “roller Coaster” Once on your bike you followed a similar route going up on what is known as “hillside” then down through the creek to the “Roller Coaster” where short steep hills were the norm. After 3 loops on the bike, you did the same run again.
There were no splits only a final time, but each run took me about 16 minutes and the 3 loop bike course about 70 minutes. My overall time was like 1:43. There were 56 entrants (mostly teams) and I finished 26th overall, 4th place male over 40. Oddly, I saw very few people I knew, it was mostly a mountain bike crowd who found a couple of runners. It was a definite but kicker, but was fun (except my only fall was a stumble running down the hill to the finish line. DAH!). Probably be a race week call again for 2010. :]
